Galentine’s day might be a gimmick, but I’m all for it. 

I’m a big fan of Parks and Rec. I got sucked in a few years ago and regularly rewatch certain aspects of the show depending on my life’s circumstances.

I fell in love with this holiday because not only is it a less sappy version of Valentine’s Day, it supports women. It doesn’t focus on how pretty or desired you are from a romantic partner, but it’s about supporting the women around you.

Leslie Knope was able to take a made-up holiday and use it to support women. That’s one of the best reasons a holiday should be started. And, it doesn’t draw as much backlash as Women’s Day.

You might not have celebrated Galentine’s Day before, but here are a few of the ways you can support fellow businesswomen:

Galentine’s Day gift idea #1: Candy, sweets, or waffles

No one will turn down a few treats. You might be in the middle of a diet, but the thought that someone gave to give you a few candied treats is sweet. 

Let alone, waffles are one of the staples of Galentine’s Day. Make them healthy, or an alternative version of waffles, and you should be fine.

Hand-made gifts like scarves, jewelry, notes, or otherwise, are precious. Someone really had to work at making a gift by hand, and it shows the thought that went into giving you anything.

I love having photos around my desk and office workspace because it reminds me of my support system. Keeping them around lets me soak in the support and encouragement other female business owners are giving me.

Again, I’m all for spreading encouragement! If someone sends me a thoughtful quote or sign that reminds me of them or of me, then I’m not going to turn it down.

Makeup bags are undervalued, in my opinion. You don’t have to hold your makeup in the bags either.
