Analytics

I think analytics on Squarespace is pretty awesome.

I tend to view two things in particular. I tend to view the geography and the most popular content the most off of my site.

Geography

For most people, geography might not be the most exciting or implemented aspect of their blog. I personally love to see where people are seeing my content from. There’s something about someone seeing my content across the world seem really cool and interesting. I don’t tend to put much emphasis into my writing regarding the whereabouts that my posts appeal to, but it is a fascinating concept to me.

Just now, my analytics are reporting that I have readers in the Philippines, France, Canada and more. Not many mind you, but it’s still interesting.

Most Popular Content

As for my content, that’s always changing. Sometimes a post doesn’t do very well, but it’s still fun to talk about and explore a bit more. I’m really surprised by one of my more consistently popular posts, Hegemonic Masculinity, Emphasized Femininity. I had no idea when I wrote this post as part of a summer class that it would still be looked into about five plus years later.

I was asked to contribute and maintain a blog for a sociology class during one of my summer semesters of college concerning our reading. I knew understanding the vocabulary and applying it to real world scenarios would help me retain and utilize the information the best. I go on to describe some of my ideal masculine and feminine traits pertaining to current day celebrities, which happened to be Prince Harry and Anne Hathaway.

Of course there are more aspects of analytics, and certainly ones that help develop a blog quicker, but they are still very relevant to what helps excite me to continue writing. I think it’s amazing how people can spread joy, information and content to other people in this format and continue to pursue information in this way.
